UTM has formed seven R&D Clusters, which match its strengths and opportunities, in order to enhance the University R&D performance. This is in line with the national aspiration to become a developed nation by year 2020. Each of our current research clusters have been determined by the significant numbers of:

  • Research grant income, completions, and publications.
  • Identified major research facilities and centers.
  • Staff with recognized national and international standing.
The seven R&D Clusters which comprises multi-disciplinary fields are :
  1. Advanced Materials and Manufacturing
  2. Aerospace and Transport Technologies
  3. Chemical and Biotechnology
  4. Construction and Infrastructure Technologies
  5. Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies for society
  6. Energy,Environmental Health and Safety
  7. Fundamental Science and Mathematics
