Abstract of research area

This department mainly focus on two main research area, i.e. security and network. Following are the main research areas currently undertaken by the staff as well as research student:

Cryptographic Standards and Applications
Focus is on developing cryptographic methods for protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of information resources; and addresses such technical areas as: secret and public key cryptographic techniques, advanced authentication systems, cryptographic protocols and interfaces, public key certificate management, smart tokens, cryptographic key escrowing, and security architectures. Helps enable widespread implementation of cryptographic services in applications and the national infrastructure.

Network Security
Network security is one of the major research area at the department. The main objective in network security is to secure the network. Especially when it involved with the data being transferred via network. It is to make sure that the data transmission over the network is highly secure and reliable until it reach the destination.

Computer Intrusions and Forensic
Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is an important field of research and development in today's information technology era. It can protect and secure your high valuable and critical business data on your network. With the emerged of computer network and internet technology, there is also an increased in the number of intruders, hackers, viruses and other malware programs. And computer forensic or also known as cyberspace crime scene investigation is a new field in computer security which can help us to analyze the intrusion and finally collect the evidences and keep track of the intrusions so it can be used in the cyber law reinforcement.

Biometrics
Login and password is always not enough to ensure your system authentication is trusted. It can be cracked or hacked by hackers using highly advance hacking tools. As a secondary precaution, biological measurement such as iris, fingerprint and face/voice recognition can be used as the sophisticated authentication tools for the highly protected system.

Grid Technology for visualization pipeline
This research is addressing on the design and development of a flexible architecture solution of visualization pipeline to solve the computational problems for large medical datasets. The implemented concept follows the implementation on the grid services and provides ability to represent visualization pipeline components as services entities in the network. With that in mind, we seek to divide the visualization pipeline components and implement the involved visualization components as service entities. The implementation of this technique will lead to higher flexibility and better resource utilization.
