1984

Establishment of Institute of Computer Science (with Academic Unit and Administrative Computing Unit).

1991

Establishment of Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems (separation of Administrative Computing Unit).
First intake of PhD and MSc Computer Science

1995

The Faculty moved to UTM Main Campus in Skudai, Johor.

1996

First intake of MSc Real-time Software Engineering, in collaboration with Campus Thomson, France, offered by Faculty’s Center for Advanced Software Engineering (CASE), UTM Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.

The formation of Department of Graphics and Multimedia.

1999

First intake of MSc Information Technology (with specialization in Management, Manufacturing, Education, or Library).
First intake of MSc Computer Science (Software Entrepreneurship).

2001

First intake of MSc Computer Science (IT Entrepreneurship), in collaboration with Bureau of Innovation and Consultancy (BIP) UTM and MARA.

2002

Certified as MSC Status Institution.
First intake of BSc Computer Science (from STPM and matriculation).

2003

The first faculty and academic programme in the country audited for Academic Quality Assurance.

2004

First intake of MSc Computer Science (Information Security).

2006

First intake of Bachelor of Computer Science (Bioinformatics).

2007

First intake of Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Networks and Security).
First intake of Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering).
First intake of Bachelor of Computer Science (Industrial Computing).
First intake of Bachelor of Computer Science (Graphics and Multimedia Software).
