Master of Computer Science(Information Security)
The Faculty of Computer Science & Information System (FSKSM), the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) is offering a graduate study in Information Security.  This new and advanced graduate study is unique and is offered in Malaysia only by UTM.  It is intended for computer professionals and computer science / engineering / science & technology graduates to pursue further in the field of Information Security.  It is designed to introduce the technical, application, management, and legal aspects of security in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

1. To produce graduates who are able to plan and design an appropriate security policy and services for an organization.
2. To produce graduates who are able to provide and implement an effective security mechanism for organizations using up-to-date tools and technology
3. To produce graduates who are able to generate new knowledge, idea and technique in information security
4. To produce graduates who are able to consistently perform their responsibilities ethically and professionally

Mode of Study
Mode of study is a full taught course, in which the programme is very similar to undergraduate degrees in that you complete a structured, subject-based programme of compulsory and elective subjects.

Locations and Language
The programme will be conducted at CASE, UTM City campus, Kuala Lumpur with English as the language medium of communication.

Entry Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; or for those without a good honors degree, candidates must have substantial working experience in the area.Candidates are expected to have taken data Database and Computer System & Communication Network or similar subjects, failing which, they have to take MCM 0133 Database, MCS 0023 Computer System & Communication Network respectively.

International Student Entry
International applicants to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia must satisfy academic admission and English language proficiency requirement(IELTS band 6 or TEOFL score of 550) and any other conditions specified. Students who do not fulfill English  Language proficiency will be required to take an English exam upon registration, failing which, they have to register for English modules offered at the university.

Course Structure
All students are required to take University Common Elective (2 credits), Compulsory Faculty Subject (3 credits), Core Subjects (21 credits)and a Master's Project (6 credits). The total number of credits required for the award of a degree is 32 credits.

Exit Points
Students may graduate after successfully completing minimum of 32 credits, and must obtain a final academic grade of at least 3.0 CGPA within a minimum study duration of 4 semesters (2 years) to a maximum duration of 10 semesters (5 years).

Self Sponsored : RM20,000.00 (For 4 semester)
Foreign Student : RM25,000.00 (For 4 semester)
All payment should be made to "Bendahari UTM" via bank draft and addressed directly to School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor Bahru, Johor Darul Takzim, MALAYSIA.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the degree are expected to find employment in both business and industry as Information Security experts, and the need for such experts is likely to be high in light of the current and future development of ICT security.
