Progammes
Master of Sience (MSc) by Research and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
a. Master of Science (MSc) by Research
A student shall carry out research in any of the areas of research stated in Areas of Research Section. Assessment is by semester progress reports and a thesis examination (viva voce). All research works are supervised by a lecturer or a panel of lecturers from the Graduate Faculty.
b. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The progress of a student is assessed each semester through a progress report. The degree is awarded based on a comprehensive examination (viva voce) of the doctoral thesis submitted by the student at the end of his/her study. All Ph.D. research works are supervised by a lecturer or a panel of lecturers from the Graduate Faculty. Co-supervisors may also come from a related industry.
This programme allows students to conduct an independent research in an area of Computer Science, under the supervision of a member of staff with an appropriate research interest. The student will be expected to present his/her proposal to a panel of examiners by the middle of the second semester of registration for Master programme and by the middle of the third semester for Doctoral programme. At the end of every semester, students are required to report and present the progress of their research. This would be used as a basis for assessment in that semester.
