When FSKSM moved to the newly completed building of N28 Block at the end of the year of 2001, Level 4 of the D07 Block building was renovated and transformed into the FSKSM Post-Graduate Centre. The FSKSM Post-Graduate Centre began its operations in May 2002. The faculty prides itself in providing one of the most conducive environments for post-graduate study and research in UTM.

Four (4) office rooms are provided for the use of PhD students. Research students also conduct their respective research work at the specialized research laboratories and rooms provided at the five departments at the N28 Block. The departments and the number of research laboratories provided at D07 Block are:


Postgraduate General Purpose Laboratory

This laboratory is for the general use of postgraduate students. It is equipped with computing facilities, which includes 20 networked PCs with internet access, a high-end computer server, 1 laser printer, 1 scanner, and multimedia equipments. Computer software and application packages that are available include Visual Basic, C++, BPWin, ERWin, Objectory, Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition, Oracle Internet Developer Suite, Oracle Application Servers, System Architect and Rational Suite Enterprise Edition.


Post Graduate General Activities Room

This room is equipped with tables, chairs, cabinets and sofas for the use of up to 50 students at any one time. The room also has electrical power outlets and Internet access. Students use this room to conduct general activities such as group discussions, self study, or simply to rest and unwind between lectures.


2 Teaching Laboratories: (1) Computer Science and (2) Information Technology

Each laboratory is equipped with 1 Computer Digital Projector and 10 high-end PCs connected to a server installed with sersuckas Rational Suite Enterprise Editor, Oracle 8i Enterprise Editor, and other software. The laboratory is dedicated for use during lecture in line with the aim of the faculty to integrate advanced computing skills development with theory/conceptual-based lectures.


6 Lecture Rooms

Each lecture room caters for up to 30 students and at minimum is equipped with 1 Overhead Projector and Screen. There are also 2 mobile notebook computers and 2 Computer Digital Projectors, which are available for use at any of these rooms.
