Although the Faculty of Computer Science and Information System (FSKSM) was formally established in 1991, UTM has been offering the Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Science since the early 1980s through the Institute of Computer Science (ISK). When FSKSM was established, the post-graduate programmes offered were the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program and the Master for Computer Science program. In 1996, The Master of Science (Computer Science - Real Time Software Engineering) was offered by FSKSM through the Center for Advanced Software Engineering (CASE). Two new programmes were introduced by FSKSM in 1998: Master of Science (Information Technology) and Master of Science (Computer Science - Software Entrepreneurship).
