UTM Introduces Cheap Durable Houses |

KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 (Kuala Lumpur) -- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has developed a new technology to build strong and durable low cost houses from metal and plastics, that would cost only RM30,000 or less, a unit.
UTM vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaini Ujang said the houses, build using German, South African and Malaysian "Fast-Track Wall" (FTW) technology, are relatively stronger than conventional houses build using cement, sand and wood and would only incur a fraction of the cost.

KUALA LUMPUR, 23/03/2009 - Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) berjaya membina rumah mengikut konsep Projek Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) dengan hanya menelan kos RM25,000 untuk rumah dua bilik manakala RM27,000 untuk rumah tiga bilik. Naib Canselor UTM, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang berkata, rumah itu dibina menggunakan teknologi berasaskan sistem acuan modular yang menggunakan kombinasi keluli dan plastik sebagai bahan binaan yang dikenali sebagai Fast-Track Wall (FTW). |

Prof. Zaini appointed as UTM's new VC |

Congratulations to Yg Bhg Dato' Ir Prof Dr Zaini Ujang for his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) effective Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. Prof Dr Zaini who previously holds the post of UTM Deputy Vice-Chancellor for research and innovation is believed to be the youngest person to head a Malaysian public university. He will serves as the UTM VC for a three-years term after replacing Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Ghazali who has held the post of UTM's VC since December 2000. |
