Geotechnical and Highway Engineering Laboratory The laboratories under the Department of Geotechnics and Transportation are Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Advanced Geotechnics Laboratory, Geology and Rock Mechanics Laboratory, Model and Instrumentation Laboratory, Highway Laboratory and Transportation Laboratory.

- Automated Rowe’s Hydraulic and Oedometer Consolidation Cells.
- Large Strain Consolidation Cells specially-designed for very compressible soils such as ex-mining slurry and peat.
- Auto Compaction Equipment
- Auto Direct Shear Test Equipment
- Pressuremeter
- Pinhole Erosion Meter
- Constanct Rate of Strain Consolidation Equipment
- GDS
- Commercial software packages for geotechnical engineering and traffic analysis
- HISTAR-Automatic Traffic Counter
- TRANSCAD GIS – Transportation Computer Aided Design
- Various equipment for laboratory and field material assessment such as California Bearing Ratio (CBR), Polished Stone Value (PSV), Aggregate Crushing Value (ACV), Flakiness, Los Angeles/Dory Abrasion, coring machine, bitumen extractor, Marshall stability and wheel tracking equipment.
