Teaching and learning experience can be enhanced through involvement of lecturers and students in research activities and in the development of fields related to the nation’s growth. The Faculty encures that each research and development project run by the lecturers falls into the niche areas identified by the faculty in order to utilize the strength of its pool of expertise and physical facilities available.

Under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK 9), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) offered 3 research grants : TechnoFund and ScienceFund. In addition, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) initiated the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS).

Throughout 2010, a total of 2 research grants applications were approved by MOSTI amounting to a total of RM 333,000.00 while 14 research grant applications were approved by MOHE amounting to a total of RM 660,280.00. Other research grants approved in 2010 were from IRGS and R&D fund for new PhD staff and foreign academic visitors that amounted to a total of RM 1, 010,901.00. The total research grant approved was RM 2,108,280.00 which enabled the Research Division to organize a number of research activities in 2010. The is shows that FKA is actively involved in research activities; in line a Research University.
