Financial Services (Bursary)

    The financial services office or the Bursary is headed by the Chief Financial Officer (or the Bursar), Tuan Haji Mohamed Abdullah. The bursary covers a number of functions. It informs financial policy decisions through the provision of management information, the auditing of the University's financial and other activities, and by advising on good practice.

    It oversees the University's procurement policy to ensure that it receives value for money. The Bursary also supports faculties and departments in monitoring and improving their own purchasing practice. Financial Services works closely with the Asset Division , which is responsible for management of all the University's buildings and grounds, including maintenance services. The Development Division is responsible for the procurement of major new developments.

Research Commercialisation & Business Services

    The drive to achieve excellence in research standards and to develop new areas of research in emerging fields is led by the Research Management Centre. This is also the department that manages the protection of intellectual property arising from university research and academic activities.

    The Bureau of Innovation and Consultancy encourages the transfer of technology and knowledge from within the University to the business world, and identifies opportunities for collaborative research. The University’s business arm, Unitechnologies Sdn. Bhd .

Registrar’s Office

    The Registrar, Tuan Haji Wan Mohd. Zawawi Wan Abd. Rahman, is the Senior Administrative Officer and heads up the Registrar's Office which informs policy making within the University on administrative issues. The focus of the department is to provide systems and support for the academic life and career development of staff. It also provides support for the management of University?s academic programmes through its Academic Management  Division and Organisational Management & Administration Division .

    The Academic Management Unit is the first port of call for many student queries, including students? admissions, fee issues, clearing activities and degree conferment. It also manages administrative systems in support of teaching and examinations, and oversees the student support services, including counsellings and assistance for students with disabilities. Career development activities for students include careers advice, information about graduate opportunities and access to excellent part-time work opportunities.

    Staff are supported by the Human Capital Management and the Human Capital Development  divisions which provide staff development advice, competency training and short courses. The Security Division also reports to the Registrar's Office .

ICT Services

    The Centre of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) is responsible for ensuring that staff and students have access to teaching, learning and research resources by: providing the University’s IT infrastructure; acquiring, developing and supporting new and emerging technologies and systems; and providing access to millions of digital resources across the University’s campuses.

    CICT is continually developing and delivering the new initiatives by extending access to the University’s network, CICT services and support digital resources, and by developing and supporting the delivery of e-learning.

External Relations
    The Office of International Affairs is responsible for the recruitment and welfare of international staff and students, as well as promoting the University's exchange programmes. The Office of Corporate Affairs promotes and manages external linkages with local and international industry and university partners, through strategic partnerships and collaborative programmes. It also manages all MOUs between UTM and its collaborating partners. Corporate Communications and International Relations deals with all relationships with the ministry, public, local media and international visitors.
Marketing Unit

    The University Marketing Unit is responsible for managing the University's marketing function - conducting University's student recruitment (both undergraduate and post graduate), market research and analysis, identifying the needs and characteristics of target markets, undertaking marketing planning, providing marketing advice on course and University development. In achieve this responsibility, the Unit work with all areas of our faculties/ school to develop a strong and integrated approach to marketing, in line with the strategic direction of the University.

    The Unit resources are largely dedicated to marketing activities at a university-wide level. Our staff of the Unit also work with other areas of the University, particularly Faculties and Schools, to ensure they maximise the effect of their marketing activity and expenditure.
